Whenever a relationship hits the rock bottom, emotions come rushing to the top, making it tough, but it’s nothing compared to dealing with an ex who still wants a dose of you.
The feeling is often amazing when you know someone loves you dearly, however, the love ingredient is not enough to sustain a relationship. So, don’t be fooled by that.
Put yourself together and ask yourself whether your ex is just bored? or he/she is genuine about getting back with you? Could it be he/she wants to remain friends with you? Or maybe you two still love each other and need to talk about it.
These complicated and conflicting thoughts and questions make the breakup a bitter pill to swallow. But, what if there is a chance of making things work with your ex, will you take it?
Whether your answer is yes or no, these signs will tell you that your ex is waiting.
When You See These Signs, your Ex is waiting
1. He/she breaks the ‘no-contact rule’
The no-contact rule helps to ease the pain people suffer after a break-up. For it to be effective, both of you can either seek help or break all possible contacts, cut off links, and communicate for a minimum of thirty days. During this period, you must avoid calling, texting, or talking to each other’s friends or family.
If your ex agrees to all the items on the list, then he/she is ready to help you heal and move on with your life. But, if he/she disagrees with the rules, it’s a clear sign that your ex is waiting.
2. The calls and text messages keep coming (maintain communication)
One of the most difficult habits to break after a breakup is phone calls and text messages. Communication is a relationship’s life wire, so, an ex finds it challenging to cut off communication after a split. So, there is this temptation to still want to make that call or sent a text.
When you start seeing calls or receiving text messages from your ex, it is obvious that he/she is not over you. He/she just wants to talk to you and hear your voice.
In most cases, your ex is using this to know:
- what is happening in your life
- Whether you’ve moved on
- If there is someone new in your life
And sometimes, he/she may use it to let you know they are still interested and waiting.
3. He/she stalks you on social media
Another difficult habit to break is staying away from an ex’s social media pages. It is one good channel where an ex that still has feelings for you frequents. He/she pays regular visits to your social media pages to gain an insight into your life and this is done without having to leave the house or talk to mutual friends or family.
Nevertheless, there is a sharp contrast here; because your ex is still friends with you on social media is not a guarantee he/she still loves you. It could be he/she just wants to keep the veins of friendship pumped, and doesn’t want to be mean by removing you from his/her life.
Instead, if you begin to see his/her comments and likes on Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat posts you made sometimes back, then it is a sign of stalking. When he/she stalks you, it is clear they are still in love with you.
4. He/she seems so upset about the breakup
There is no denying that breakups are painful, and everyone in it feels sad and angry. Regardless of the circumstances under which the breakup happened, it is not easy to say goodbye for both the person who call it off and the dumped. Similarly, the feeling of sadness and anger is the same even if the decision end it was on mutual grounds. Truth be told, it is hard to pull through, and most times, it leads to depression.
There is a possibility your ex is waiting for you if he/she finds it difficult to move on for weeks, months, or even longer.
5. He/she makes effort to keep in touch with your friends and family
Making a great effort to maintain contact and communication with your friends and family is a clear indication that your ex is still interested. When he/she mean to end the relationship for real, they would cut off all links, contacts, and communication with those close to you to allow them to heal. But, if he/she does the opposite, it means the feelings are still there.
6. What is the reaction when you run into each other?
You would know if your ex is waiting by gauging his/her reactions whenever you run into him/her in a public space. A smarter ex would try to pretend by concealing it but his/her body language and eye movements often disagree.
For instance, when you run into an ex and he/she looks the other way, it could be they have moved on from you, but if he/she walks over and say hi or acts apprehensively, then that ex wants you back.
7. He/she wants you both to stay as friends
An obvious sign to know when an ex wants things to work between you two is when he/she feels you should be “just friends” immediately after breaking up. He/she feels this is the only way to be close to you even though you have broken up.
Sometimes, he/she may even want to do those favorite things you used to do before the split, and if you agree to it, it gives them the feeling that you are still together.
8. He/she tries to find more about you
The idle thing to do after a breakup is to allow yourself to heal, and go on with life. To do this means avoiding anything that would make you want to know about the life of your ex.
But if he/she still has feelings, their act differently. He/she would want to know whether you’ve moved on with your life, dating a new person, or if you still have feelings for him/her.
The moment you see these moves from your ex, he/she is waiting.
9. He/she acts jealous around you
Jealousy is a powerful emotion. It has a way of telling that your ex still wants. For instance, if he/she sees you flirting with another person and flares up, he/she still cares about you.
An ex who doesn’t want you back would allow you to live your life and wish you luck in finding happiness with someone.
10. He/she apologizes
If your ex apologizes, it means he/she is taking responsibility for the hurt they caused you. This is also an indication that your ex has been reflecting on how he/she has betrayed you and wants to make it right by getting back together.
